Windsurf, now Devin Desktop
Windsurf started life as Codeium’s AI code editor. Cognition, the company behind the Devin coding agent, took it over and in June 2026 renamed it Devin Desktop. windsurf.com now redirects to devin.ai, and the Windsurf name lives on mostly in search results and old settings screens.
What it is now
Devin Desktop is two things in one window:
- A full IDE with syntax highlighting, autocomplete (Tab), inline edits and debugging.
- An agent command center where you start, watch and review several coding agents at once, both local ones on your machine and Devin Cloud agents running remotely.
Through the Agent Client Protocol (ACP) it can also host other agents, including Codex, Claude Agent and OpenCode, next to Cognition’s own Devin and Cascade agents.
